Griffin & his brothers

A Day at the Lake

Griffin and I joined Aunt Holly, Uncle Jason, and cousin Harper on their boat yesterday afternoon while Daddy was out of town. Griffin and Harper enjoyed a little snack before swimming.

We bought this life jacket last summer so Griffin could go on the boat, but he was too little to actually go swimming last year. So yesterday was the first time that he wore his life jacket and he really filled it up! Griffin was so worn out after swimming that he took a nap in the floor of the boat still wearing his water-logged diaper and life jacket.

An early birthday gift

Griffin's birthday is still a few weeks away, but he got an early birthday present this weekend. His Grandmother Debbie and great-grandparents gave him a Little Tikes playset.
Griffin tested it out as soon as Matt finished putting it together. He needs help going down the slides, but he loves having his very own swing!

Mother's Day

Yes, I am just now getting around to blogging about Mother's Day...

This was my first "real" Mother's Day. Last year I was very, very pregnant on Mother's Day but that didn't really count. While it was a special day, things didn't quite go as planned. The original plan was to have a picnic at the park with the three of us, Holly and her family, Heidi, all of our moms, and Matt's grandparents. The idea was to have lunch and then let the babies swing, but unfortunately the weather did not cooperate with us. So instead, everyone came to our house for lunch. Griffin was running a fever and slept most of the day. It wasn't until Tuesday that we figured out what was wrong--he had hand-foot-mouth disease (it's not nearly as serious as it sounds, but it definitely made him feel rotten). Anyway, we did manage to take a few pictures in between all of his naps.

Dinner Time!

Griffin has always been a good eater (as you can probably tell just by looking at him!) but he has recently started asserting his independence at dinnertime. After a few bites, he will shut his mouth, turn away from the spoon, and start whining until I let him hold the spoon.
He actually does a pretty good job of holding the spoon and getting it into the bowl, however the other hand usually ends up in the bowl too.

Harper's Birthday

On Sunday afternoon, we celebrated Griffin's cousin Harper's 1st birthday. They were both clapping about all of the pretty presents.
Griffin had to check out the toy that he gave Harper. He loves his train and car that he can ride on and his mail cart that he can walk behind, so he thought this Walk & Ride toy would be a good gift for his cousin.
Apparently he hasn't yet figured out that pink is for girls and blue is for boys, because he was very intrigued by the Cinderella riding toy that Mimi gave Harper.
